Worked as a clerk in the Accounts Dept of the Carriage Works at Wolverton (which was a reserved occupation).

Charles called up in the early part of the war and they were married in 1942.

First daughter born in August 1943.

Charles went over to France with the Herts & Essex Yeomanry as a bombardier immediately after D-Day.
